"It was the meal of the year, and the surprise of my life"

-Mike Amos - The Northern Echo - August 2000

"The Dun Cow in Sedgefield is the North East's Best Place for Sunday Lunch."

- The Observer - March 2005

"Food: 9 out of 10"

- The Times - May 2005

"Oven's going to be pretty hot stuff."

- Mike Amos - The Northern Echo - November 2005

"Oven's co-owner and head chef, Tarek Thoma, cut the culinary mustard at nearby Sedgefield's Dun Cow-regular haunt of the Blairs and the focus of much media attention when they popped in for a spot of lunch with George and Laura Bush. Now his own restaurant is compact and bijou with covetable antique style cruet sets and wine buckets to weave a little fabricated history into the contemporary setting. The food is geared towards his market, safe yet demanding:a classic fillet of lamb rubbed hefty shoulders with a cheeky parsnip puree with a texture and form of Mr Whippy ice cream-only far more grown up. Chunks of swordfish, tuna and king prawns were brought alive with a melting, perfumed saffron risotto speckled with tiny sweet mussels."

- The Guardian - March 2006

Food 10 out of 10, beautiful meal and service was excellent. It's a pity we don't live closer, great value for money.

Had a 5 hour lunch here yesterday, best food and ambience of any other restaurant in Darlington!! Staff so welcoming!! Only problem is what to choose from the menu, black pudding and caramelised onion chutney with pate both utter fabulous!! Booked in again next week!
